TechnoparkToday.com: Meet our Star Techie, Arun Dutt Pullat, Often known as a big man with a big guitar and big sound a techie working with a MNC in Technopark. Other than his profession as a business analyst, Arun handles the Guitar department for bands – Kolam and Soul Burn.
He got hooked to the famous guitar solos by The Ventures and The Shadows from a very young age. Arun’s greatest influence was his mother, an ardent rock music fan who had stacks of LPs & audio tapes ranging from BB King to Pet shop Boys. It was one of Arun’s hobbies to convert LPs to tapes and create his own mixtapes with the favourite tracks.
Arun started playing guitars at the age of 8 years to recover from a badly fractured left hand. He was mostly a solo artist until he met a few friends and started off an Iron Maiden cover band (Friction). He also worked with few other Heavy Metal acts from Trivandrum like Chaos & Rubbur Band before joining the experimental psychedelic project Soul Burn along with Chippu VS (Bassist) & Vivek Thomas (currently also front man of Cochin based Motherjane). Kolam was a spin off from the Soul Burn project and 6 original tracks were premiered in Kappa TV’s Music Mojo. He also led a band in Technopark who have numerous gigs to their belt, the famous one being the opening act for German Rock band – Black Rust at a Goethe Zentrum Event.
Arun has also composed and played guitars for two songs from a Malayalam movie called Friday. He has toured across India with the Soul Burn line-up and is currently touring with Job Kurian across South India. One of his recent performances with Job Kurian was for the prestigious Jai Hind TV Film Fare Awards 2014 held in Bangalore. This was aired very recently giving world-wide coverage for his performance.
In 2014, Arun is also looking forward to complete setting up his own home studio for guitar recording and music production. He also has an artist page where he shares all his thoughts https://www.facebook.com/arunduttpullat
Very recently he came out with a couple of videos on his YouTube channel- https://www.youtube.com/user/arunplaysguitar
The one that caught our attention was his near perfect cover of the famous guitar solo of Highway Star from Deep Purple. This is a commendable achievement as the recording was done in one go. He also says that he wanted the video to be raw and not very posh.
During his free time he chills with his wife Sherin (aka Bunny). He is also seen tinkering with his guitar collection at his home studio, listening to music (heads banging) and recording new ideas.
