A day-long festival with tree walk, musical concerts, painting exhibition, street plays, sculpture, conventions, etc. were held.

The aim of the street fest was to popularize Manaveeyam Veedhi as a space where people from all walks of life can come, perform, and enjoy the art of their choice, utilizing the walls in the area to screen movies, revamping the area with artistic installations, with the permission of the corporation and declaring it a green corridor to prevent cutting of trees in the area.

The stretch connecting the Museum-Vellayambalam road to Althara Junction was named Manaveeyam Veedhi on April 22, 2001.   Abhinaya, a theater group in the city, performs art forms on every Sundays at 5 p.m. in this location.
