Techies turn Good Samaritans: 919 blood Donations from Technopark in a Year

TechnoparkToday.com>> December 18, 2013:  Techies are becoming the major blood donors for prominent hospitals in the city such as Medical College and Regional Cancer Centre.  Co-ordinated by Tejus Charitable Society, techies make regular donations to the needy.  Annual report of Tejus shows techies gave 919 blood donations in the past 12 months.

Tejus began its functioning in Technopark in November 30, 2012. “Tejus had actively started its journey in Technopark with a blood donation camp conducted at Park center on Nov 30, 2012 in remembrance of World Aids day.  This camp was an eye-opener for a voluntary blood donation, and Mr. Vasudevan, Senior Business Development Manager, Technopark was our guest of honor and in his speech, had rightly mentioned that there was a huge potential for voluntary blood donations in Technopark as there were approximately 45000 techies working in Technopark who will be able to cater to the growing need of this vital fluid called Blood. His speech was proved right in our very first camp, as the camp saw 54 blood donations from the techies,” volunteers of Tejus told TechnoparkToday.

“Twelve months from there, we had conducted 19 successful VBD camps that had 919 blood donations. In addition, we were able to cater to 219 emergency calls for blood requirement within various hospitals in the city,” they said.
