TechnoparkToday>>Technomall – The official shopping complex of kerala’s biggest IT park is now in a very pathetic situation. The traders of Technomall are a dejected lot and authorities allegedly are neglecting them. The premises are left with a dry and unimpressive look as there was no maintenance for the past several years.
Though IT/ITES companies enjoy uninterrupted power and other utility services, the traders at Technomall says their complaints on power or water disruption often fall on deaf ears.
Technomall is having the same facilities when it started in early 90’s. Then the strength of of Technopark was only a few hundrad people, and there were less than a dozen of companies there. but today, technopark is the biggest IT park in India or even in asia, and hosting more than 250 companies and around fifty thousand workforce – the facilities of the technomall and technopark club are almost same as it was in 90s.
“It is difficult for us to work in such an indifferent circumstance. If they are charging such a hefty amount, they must provide necessary services to us. It is affecting our business badly. We are receiving several complaints from our customers regarding this” a vendor said to TechnoparkToday.
“In Technomall we don’t have a decent shop other than a number of banks and insurance agencies. and the exceptions are one Ambrossia bakery and Baskin Robbins ice cream parlor. Mall is in its name only, but not worth visiting there ” said Arun Gopinath, an IT engineer working in Technopark
“I wanted to start a new shop in technomall, and when i enquired, the authorities said that there is a long queue and no shops will be available in near future. but when i investigated I came to know that, most of the shops are owned by a few people. means, if there is any shop going to be vacant, the existing shop owners will be booking them in advance by influencing the authorities, and they simply expand their business to the new shop. Means nobody else can start a new shop there…other than you go with some recommendation letter from IT ministry or anyone like that to jump the queue and get the priority”- Said Gireesh, an IT professional wanted to start a new shop in technomall.
Today, Technomall hosts 31 service providers including bank, clinic, shopping centers, ice cream outlets, computer shops, etc. But still they are not up to the mark to serve the huge number of IT professionals working there.
The official shopping facility of technopark is now became the place for financial institutions. it is same as in the capacity while technopark started for 250 employees during 90s. now we have more than 45K employees.
