Technopark adopts corporate policy on HIV/AIDS

The Group of Technopark Companies (GTech), the strategic grouping of IT companies in Technopark, has adopted a corporate policy on HIV/AIDS. GTech is the first industry organisation in Kerala to adopt a corporate policy on HIV/AIDS to help build a positive and supportive attitudes towards those infected and to promote the health and safety amongst the IT companies in the state

The policy strives to inculcate awareness on HIV/AIDS at the deepest level among the member companies and their employees to prevent the occurrence of the ailment. The policy also mandates GTech to partner with organisations, such as the Kerala State AIDS Control Society, to raise awareness among all the Information Technology parks in the state to eliminate the misconception of social stigma and discrimination against those infected with HIV/AIDS

According to Satish Babu, Secretary, Gtech, fighting the stigma associated with the HIV/AIDS and its prevention is a collective responsibility of the IT industry in the state. GTech will work with the Kerala government in creating awareness about HIV/AIDS.

The policy adopted also stresses on the need to educate employees of companies on safe blood donation.Sudheer K B, Team Lead, KSACS, Rita Cross, Joint Director, KSACS, Prasanna Kumar , KSACS and Binu Sankar, CEO, Gtech. S Rama Rao, President, GTech said the Group of Technopark Companies would pursue more of such initiatives and would play a proactive role as a catalyst in addressing the social and economic development challenges in the state.
