Technopark is all set to host First-ever Road Safety Hackathon by World Bank

hackathonTechnoparkToday.com>> Technopark trivandrum is all set to host the biggest Technology event in the history with prizes worth Seven Lakh Rupees, for finding solutions to a very serious issue.

World Bank and Kerala Road Safety Authority will organize the 36 hours non-stop Road Safety Hackathon in Technopark on August 22-23rd 2015. The Hackathon will aim at developing Technology solutions for road safety – including software and hardware, which will help reduce incidence of road accidents, thus making our roads safer.  GTech is the industry partner for the event.

The Government of Kerala will implement the prize winning solution with the support of World Bank.

An Ideathon will also be organized alongside the Hackathon, to ensure that those from outside the technology community are also able to contribute their ideas and win prizes.

The hackathon in the state will be the first of the four world series planned by the World Bank.

The event, to be held at Park Centre, Technopark here, will be managed by AngelHack, a Silicon Valley-based global hackathon champion and the local coordination and facilitation will be handled by GTech, Technopark.

The event expects participation of coders from all over India. The coders may work individually or as a team which may have up to 5 persons. Three winning teams will be awarded cash prizes and merit certificates. They will be given 3-6 months for maturation of their program or product.

“The hackthon will have two parts – ideation and application.  Some problems related to Four E’s of road safety – engineering, education, enforcement, and emergency management– will be discussed and applications to solve such issues will be developed. To make the event a big affair, the World Bank has suggested doing away with the primary-level screening. The participants will be allowed to present their ideas. Selected ideas will get time to develop protoype in the next 24 hours,” Deepu S Nath, Managing Director of Technopark-based DBG  said.

There is a great opportunity for the general public to send their ideas/solutions for road safety in Kerala. Selected ideas will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 25000/-, two runner-ups Rs. 12500/- and ten 2nd runner-ups @ Rs. 5000/- each. The ideas and suggestion should be limited to 350 words.

To post your ideas, visit: www.roadsafetyideas.com OR email: [email protected]. The last date for submission of ideas will close on 18th August 2015, 8 pm.
