TechnoparkToday.com>> October 2013: Technopark-TBI, the empanelled agency of Tata Institute of Social Sciences for the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility projects of Government of India; has inked for supporting Sustainable livelihood projects with Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the same was signed by Mr. Rakesh Khare – Chief General Manager – Sewa, THDC & Dr. K C Chandrashekharan Nair, CFO, Technopark & Secretary/Registrar T-TBI. The project will be implemented by Ideal Safety Systems, a virtually incubated company of T-TBI.
The CSR project will be implemented at New Tehri and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. Due to the construction of the Tehri Dam in Uttarakhand, over 10,000 families were relocated to a new place that is now called as New Tehri near Rishikesh. The recent devastating Himalayan Tsunami completely washed out these areas and have left the families and people residing here totally helpless without a source for livelihood.
In order to help them rebuild their lives and make them self-reliant, Technopark TBI and THDC have agreed to work as a team to rebuild Uttarakhand with grass root level empowerment, sustaining rural lives on a longevity mode. The people living in the Dam Revamp areas under THDC will be trained in self-employment activities such as paper carry bag manufacturing, office file manufacturing, drinking water chlorination and computer education for children. Subsequently other facets of waste and hygiene management will be taken up in the next phase.
“We feel privileged to be associated with this project as it is a small step to empower the people of Uttarakhand who are facing severe hardship after the natural calamity. We hope our small contribution will help the people of Uttarakhand to rebuild their life all over. We are also inspired to take these projects to other parts of India as well.” said K C C Nair CFO, Technopark & Secretary/Registrar T-TBI.
