ToolJet raises funding from Microsoft’s M12 Fund, GitHub

ToolJet, an open-source low-code developer platform, has successfully secured funding from Microsoft’s venture arm, M12, and GitHub, the cloud-based software development platform. The specific amount of the investment remains undisclosed.

Established in 2021, ToolJet had previously raised $6.1 million from various investors, including Nexus Venture Partners, Ratio Ventures, Better Capital, January Capital, and angel investors.

With this new investment, ToolJet aims to expand its workforce and enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities within the platform, as stated by the company.

The founder and CEO of ToolJet is Navaneeth Padanna Kalathil, who had previously cofounded MobioPush, which was later acquired by Freshworks in 2015.

Priyanka Mitra, partner at M12 and cofounder of the M12 GitHub Fund, expressed admiration for Navaneeth and the ToolJet team. She emphasized the significance of low-code development in accelerating business innovation and confirmed M12’s commitment to supporting ToolJet in its mission.

ToolJet boasts popularity among developers and teams worldwide, spanning Fortune 500 companies, scaleups, and startups. It has gained around 20,000 stars and 350 contributors on GitHub.

The platform’s strengths lie in its secure on-premise installation, allowing users to maintain control of their data even without internet connectivity. Furthermore, its open-source technology incorporates JavaScript-based plugins, facilitating customization and extensibility.
