Good news for morning walkers in the city! The Vellayambalam – Museum road will be open to the morning walkers / joggers during morning. This is one of the finest roads in trivandrum city known as royal road or ‘Rajaveedhi’
Started this Sunday (November 14), the Vellayambalam – Museum road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5 AM to 7 AM. During this time, the road will be exclusively for morning walkers.
Those who need to park their vehicles may do so at the Manaveeyam Road or on the Museum – Nandavanam (Armed Reserve Camp) road.
Why can we promote the same in technopark.I can see very few or no walkers in technopark
No need of restricting the vehicles in technopark for the walkers. because there are footpaths and plenty of other spaces including the technopark ground.
Instead of that – WE SHOULD RESTRICT THE SPEED OF VEHICLES INSIDE TECHNOPARK!
Rightly Said, We need to restrict the speed of vehicles inside TP.
Also I am not satisfied with blocking a stretch of the road during morning hours. This would actually cause inconvenience to school students and early morning office goers, Instead there should be a stadium to have all these practices.
blocking the public road for the morning walkers is a thuglak model development. road is for the vehicles, and footpaths are for the pedestrians. what is the meaning in interchanging them?
Govt should make arrangements for the walkers to walk safely through the good footpaths, and if possible, open the big stadiums and other facilities to them ,instead of blocking the traffic of the big and good part of the city and making inconvenience to the public.
Trivandrum is a big village and is less cosmopoliton than neighbouring Nagercoil and Quilon.
Ridiculous decision. Sounds good for the newspapers and the internet! Has anyone out there seen the number of people having to wait extra hours for their buses to work or school? It is not like if you skip Vellayambalam and Museum to go to the city or other parts of town, there are expressways? The area around Bakery Jn and Marappalam – Pattom which are the only ways to get out of this mess are in DEEP SH*T.
ask them to build better roads first!!
This is just favoring a few people.
Pathetic!
yes this is a very people unfriendly development. Such kind of developments will make citizen’s life miserable They could have open some stadiums to the people, instead of the public roads.
I too agree with selva.
There is nothing worth enough to call, Trivandrum a capital city. It is a small town with poor facilities. No big hospitals, No malls, No big educational institutions like IIT, IIM.
People of the trivandrum are least cosmopolitan.
It is high time, Govt should consider shifting capital city to Cochin or some other city in kerala.
Hey guys, no need get angry like this. I would like to point out something.
There are no houses, apartments or schools in this 2 Km stretch. Instead, there are only Central and state government offices, parks and museum.
Restriction is from 5 am to 7 am
All the the offices in this stretch starts functioning after 9 ( and state giv offices at 10)
Plenty of other roads to bypass this road.
And @ selva, Trivandrum may not have the cosmopolitan culture like the metros ( real metros, not the tiny towns), but it got the vast cultural and educational back ground than any non metros of India .
@selva, don’t compare madurai with trivandrum. this is kerala. I don’t know in which basis you made the comparison?
Trivandrum is the one of the best places to live in. Its very calm and fresh, and you can reach any corner of trivandrum within 30 minutes of time. Can you imagine this in your city or even in cochin? never. Did you ever seen the traffic blocks and long queues of vehicles to cover a 2 km? There it will take 1-2 hours to cross 2-3 km.
and one more thing, trivandrum is the only place where least distance from the middle of the city to the airport.
So please get a life and stop defaming trivandrum.
GOOD NEWS….
The traffic restriction while 5-7 AM is withdrawn today, and no more hassles.
Good job guys..
