As part of Stage I Audit of ISO 14001:2004/ohsas 18001:2007 carried out by TUV SUD South Asia
the Auditors have cited to use helmets for two wheeler riders as a requirement for the road safety as well as for the clearance of certification.
But most of the two wheeler riders are seen driving the bikes in the campus without helmet. As a precaution to avoid fatal mishaps and as required by the standards, it is necessary to strictly implement usage of helmets while driving two wheelers in the Technopark Campus
So, Technopark advised every employee to wear helmets while driving in the campus as well as outside the campus. Technopark will start implementing this in the campus from 1st August 2009.
Is there any way to control the speed of the bikes and cars within technopark campus?
Technopark says the speed limit is 20 km/h
but the people are driving like 60-80 km/h
first of all, please do that. then tell about helmet.
This seems very strange. Technopark companies says they are concerned with saftey of employees; so advising to use helmets. When they are least hesitated to fire employees, the same companies are concerned for the saftey of emloyees. Looks very strange.

what action technopark can take against the techies with out helmet? they won’t allow us to enter technopark with out helmet?

sorry tony, even if it is a joke, this is what i think after seeing this news. technopark can only advise techies, but not insist them to wear a helmet. as someone said, even police is not caring about this. then why should technopark?
Before these ‘standardizations’ I will say,
1) They must come up with some ‘autoriksha fare cards’
2) Mend foot paths
3) Provide sufficient parking space etc.
or atleast they must do this in parallel.

There is no employee union or representative
There is no common forum for technopark employees

I don’t have a helmet.By the way it is recession & cost cutting. So I won’t buy one.Nevertheless I will wear it if technopark funds it!
chage,that is the same with me. if they have that much care about the employees, let them distribute helmets.
A thousand probelms are still exists to resolve than the helmet issue starting from the food and restaurants in technopark, and parking problems.
anyway me and my friends are not going to wear the helmet with in campus.

i really suspect that some of the technopark people has helmet business. no wonder if they propose some specific brand or some shops.
Why technopark is worried about the helmet, since there are thousands of other serious issues to concern with higher priority?
Haa..What about seat belt and license ?
