Wikisangamotsavam @ Kollam, to Enrich and Preserve Malayalam

The annual conference of Malayalam Wikimedians, WikiSamgamotsavam, will be held in Kollam on April 28-29, 2012. Malayalam Wikipedia, the Malayalam edition of the free online encyclopedia Wikipedia, has initiated a project to enrich and preserve the language through a joint venture of malayalis across the world.

‘Wikisangamotsavam 2012’ aims to increase Malayalam content in the encyclopedia. About 150 participants will gather on April 28 to ensure distribution of data inputs from various sectors.

The Wikisangamotsavam will be inaugurated by Dr. V N Rajashekhara Pillai, Vice Chairman, Council for Science and Technology, Kerala at the District Panchayat Hall in Kollam. Barry Newstead, Chief Global Development Officer, Wikimedia Foundation will deliver the keynote address. Dr. B Iqbal, former Vice Chancellor, Kerala University; Anvar Sadath, Executive Director, IT@School Project & ViCTERS Educational Channel and Dr. Achuthsankar S Nair, Director, Centre for Bioinformatics, Kerala University are the other dignitaries addressing the audience in this two day conference.
