Yuletide at Toonz Studio..!

A group of youngsters from the city had a different Christmas outing this season, instead of being at the zoo, museum or the park, 15 children in the age group of 10 -14 years chose to have an exclusive studio tour at the Toonz Animation Studio in Technopark. Toonz was able to give the children an awareness of the hard work that goes into animation films.

The studio tour that covered the entire production steps of ‘Jil Jil Genie’, a home production of Toonz was followed by the screening of a ‘Jil Jil Genie’ film and a chat with Mahesh Vettiyar, the Director of the show. A closer look at the processes involved in animation got the kids to appreciate their favorite animation films better. They even got a sneak –peak at how animated e-cards were being made. This tour was a one of its kind opportunity for the kids to nurture their interests and skills as they were also encouraged to come up with funny sketches or cartoon ideas.

10 year old Jaden thought the tour was ‘awesome’ and so did 12 year old Kasthuri who thoroughly enjoyed it as well. According to Swapna, a Parent accompanying the kids, “This was a dream come true for the kids, they probably never imagined the kind of hard work behind the making of cartoons”.
